BREEZY ACRES | OUR 2025 HOME PROJECT GOALS

We’re very excited for 2025 and all the potential that exists for our dream home plans. This year, we're focusing on projects that not only refresh our home, but also reflect the season of life we're in. Our current plans include revamping our kitchen with practical, sustainable upgrades, turning our bedroom into a cozy sanctuary, and completing Breezy Acres headquarters! We’re excited to fill every nook & cranny with elevated ease and warm refinement.

Thoughtful planning, budget-friendly solutions, and a mix of DIY & thrifting will be the cornerstone of our approach, ensuring each project feels both purposeful and deeply personal. We are using our downloadable guide: “Design Your Dream Home: A Practical Guide” to help us stay organized, focused, and accountable as we bring our home design vision to life. We hope this post inspires you to dream a big and we’re sharing a link to our guide below so you too can begin making your dream home a reality!

This year, I really want to focus on how I can continue to make this home truly ours and best function for our needs. The big areas I’d like to focus on include our kitchen, bedroom, and my home office with a lot of smaller projects in-between.

KITCHEN

Our kitchen was designed to include space for an eat-in area but we aren’t really “eat at the table” people, no matter how much I wish otherwise. However, C loves cooking and I love baking so additional counter space would lovely. My goal with this space is to design a custom island around 60-72” in width and around 39” deep to include space for counter stools so we have the option of becoming “table” people but more so we can spend time with each other while staying out of each other’s way as we make meals & treats.

BEDROOM & BATH

Our bedroom & bath are one of the last spots that still need a paint refresh and I’m hoping to tackle both this year. While our bath will get the same Sherwin Williams Alabaster treatment as the rest of the home, I’m torn between a deep, moody green like Clare Paint’s, “Current Mood” or Farrow & Ball’s “Grove Green” to create a warm and cozy space or continuing the Alabaster shade to be the neutral base and adding color with bed linens.

OFFICE HEADQUARTERS

Breezy Acres headquarters has been in a state of flux since I graduated almost two years ago. While I did paint the space, I’d like to repaint to match the majority of the interior with SW Alabaster with a deep green accent wall of built-in shelving to get the piles of books off the floor and into a home of their own. I’ve also been sitting on cork boards & burlap for about a year with the intention of creating pin boards to be both visual interest & physical mood board play space. I’m also in desperate need of a more comfortable chair. I’ve my eye on this one at the moment. I adore its curved frame & skirting detail. I think it would fit perfectly for the space.

Lastly, a lot of my goals are to add more character & personality to our home. Truth be told, this has been one of my biggest struggles to date with our space since moving in nearly eight years ago. Life changes & school aside, my design styles have refined over the years and I’m really excited to begin sourcing items that fit this new season we’re in. I’m challenging myself to buy second-hand and/or DIY as much as possible this year and I’m looking forward to what surprises are out there waiting.

2025

EXTERIORS

As for our exterior projects, I’m looking to refresh the stain application to our garage & front doors and possibly the shutters. I’d also like to update a lot of the basic builder-grade features that still remain like our exterior lights & address numbers with more unique options. And I’d also like to expand our landscaping. I have ideas of grandeur at turning our backyard into a European retreat with border hedge of arborvitaes, hydrangeas & lavender, and potentially adding rock and landscaping to the our parking strips. I haven’t fully fleshed out what that might look like as I’m waiting for it to warm up a bit but I’m definitely looking forward to warmer weather, dirty garden hands, and evening drinks with a sunset background.
